“Heaven and earth shall pass away but my words shall not pass away” (Luke 21:33 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible).
I had a passing thought this morning as I was cleaning and dusting my collectables that require constant care. One of these days the world as I know it will pass away. It doesn’t matter how much they cost or who gave the items to me, they will be gone. Things don’t come to stay, they come to pass.
In our devotional verse, Jesus was speaking to His disciples about the importance of His Kingdom and being ready for His coming.
As human beings we get consumed with our worldly possessions forgetting that it will pass away. Dig into His Word and see what is of lasting value. Obey His Word because it will stand the test of time and eternity.
Prayer: Your coming is soon and I don’t want to get side-tracked with the things of this world. This is not my home, I’m just passing through! I want to spend my time on things of value.
