“Because a loveless world,” said Jesus, “is a sightless world”

John 14:23 MSG

We are reminded time and time again throughout scripture how important it is to have vision. Proverbs 29:18 tells us where there is no vision, the people will perish, and that sounds pretty serious to me.

We must be able to see the world, and especially people, through the eyes of God. But hate runs rampant in 2022, and many choices, actions, and reactions are fueled by hatred. We struggle to see beyond ourselves because we live in a loveless world. “Love everyone” is painted on banners, but cancel culture is slamming the door on others and ruining lives.

We must have vision. We must be able to see beyond what is right in front of us, and to do that we must have love. Love for God, and love for our brothers and sisters. If we don’t have love, what do we truly possess? 1 Corinthians 13:2 tells us that we could be able to do many incredible things, especially in the kingdom of God, but if we didn’t love others.. we would have nothing.

Love that person that has walked away from truth. Love the person that you know has gossiped about you and hurt you. Love the person struggling with addiction or mental illness.

If we loved more, would we be able to see more clearly?

Prayer: Jesus, I am thankful for Your love today. You paid an incredible price for my freedom and that’s a debt I’ll never be able to repay. I pray today that You will help me to see others through Your eyes, and to have a heart that is guided by Your love and wisdom.
