The Lord said to Abram, “Leave your land, and your relatives, and your father’s home. Go to the land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation, I will bless you. I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.” (Genesis 12:1-2, GWT)

I wonder if Abram knew just what kind of a journey he was preparing for when God asked him to leave all that was familiar to him. It is hard to imagine what his journey would have entailed. While Abram knew the outcome, he didn’t know about all of the obstacles he would face along the way. Even so, he carried on and followed through with what God asked of Him.

Sometimes we may know the destination, but what happens along the way is a mystery to us. God promises us things just like he gave Abram a promise. Like Abram, we have to trust that God is in control and only lets us go through situations that will make us better. Continue trusting in Him, and watch as he fulfills what He promised.

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for the promises you give us. Help us to trust You and believe in what You want to do through us. In Jesus name, amen.
