The apostles said to the Lord, “Show us how to increase our faith.”

Luke 17:5

A few weeks ago at our ladies conference one of the session speakers spoke to us about going deeper. She read a poem titled “Disturb us, Lord” and explained to us the impacts of praying such a prayer.

I was hesitant because I knew that asking to be disturbed would not be easy and it wasn’t something I took lightly. I thought I was prepared for what was to come, but I truly wasn’t.

You see, when something is disturbed it becomes unsettled, and when something is unsettled, it brings things to the surface. Issues that may have laid dormant for years can quickly bubble to the surface of your life, leaving you bewildered and shocked.

Sometimes pain is involved in the growth process, and it is usually a sign that change is happening. Remember growing pains in your legs as a kid? It hurt, but you knew the next day you would wake up a little bit taller. Slow, gradual, noticeable change.

Don’t be afraid to ask God to take you deeper in Him today, but prepare your heart for some stretching and change. It will be worth it!

Jesus, I have heard your voice calling me deeper and today I ask for that very thing. Disturb me Lord, call me higher and take me deeper. Help me to shake off the dust and to take a step forward today.
