“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
(Proverbs 22:6 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible)

Training is not an easy task for parents or children. As parents sometimes it seems like all we poured into them has been wasted. Often it takes years to see the fruit of our efforts. We initiate and educate them in the way they should go and hold our breath to see if they do what we have taught them. Our time of training is really a short space of time.

My children are in their 40’s and I’m hearing stories of what they are doing with the training they received from home. Our son is in a medical facility and our daughter is a medical professional. Both received the same training and I hear reports that make me proud of them.

Stephen, our handicapped son, knows how to pray and the power of prayer. His supervisor had a horrible headache and he did what he had been taught and prayed for him. The supervisor said, “Would you believe my headache went away?” Good training pays off!

Our daughter, Shana, supervises an LPN program of nurses in training. One of her students was caring for a senior member of our church. When the student found out that she was my daughter, she said, “You sure trained her well. She’s an excellent teacher.”

It takes years for good training to pay off. So, don’t give up Mom. If you trained them right, you will see that training show up.

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for the opportunity we had to place the truth of Your Word in the hearts of our children. Amen.
