“And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away into their tents, glad and merry in heart for the goodness that the LORD had shewed unto David, and to Solomon, and to Israel his people.” II Chronicles 7:10

This time of year, I often think about when I was younger, and we used to spend a week every summer at Harvey Camp. It was so great to get together with people that we didn’t see much of the rest of the year, and to listen to anointed preaching of the Word. I remember Bro. Dudley coming around in the morning with the Cowbell, calling us all to early morning prayer. What a great way to start the day. I remember the year that I felt the call of God, and the need to go to Bible School. I thank the Lord for the memories.

The last day of camp was always hard, saying goodbye to my friends for another year. But we rejoiced because of the things we had heard and experienced.

In this Scripture Solomon’s Temple had been completed and the people had gathered together in the presence of the Lord for twenty-one days, praising and worshipping with one accord. They returned home glad and merry in heart for what God had shown them.

Every time we gather together with our fellow believers, we share a time of rejoicing and thanksgiving to the Lord for all His blessing. His presence brings us comfort and hope. And as we leave the place, we are glad and merry in heart, filled with His Spirit and the strength we need to sustain us until we meet again.

Prayer: Thank you Lord Jesus for the times when we gather together to worship you and for the strength you give us to live for you every day.
