“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105).

Years ago, if you planned a trip somewhere, you would go to the store and buy a map. There were maps just for a particular state or an atlas that had all the states in one book. The maps showed most of the roads so that you could map out the way to get to your destination. The maps would not show you any construction or other obstacles that would possibly be on the roads that would hinder your journey or cause detours.

Today we have GPS, either on our phones or devices in the vehicle, that will let us know the appropriate direction to our destination and obstacles we may encounter. The GPS will redirect when there is a problem with our route; it will show an alternate way. If we veer off course, it will show us how to get back to the right direction.

The Bible is our road map through this life. It will guide us on the right path and give us direction on what to do when we face life’s obstacles. Our destination is to make Heaven our home and the Bible will show us the way. If we don’t have a map or GPS while traveling to an unfamiliar area, we may become lost and confused. If you don’t read the Bible daily, you can become lost from the way God wants you to go. To get back on the right path, read the Bible again and God will show you how to get back on the right path and what to do to get there. God’s Word has all the directions for your life.

Prayer: God, help me to stay on the right path and show me the way that I am to take. When I face life’s obstacles, help me to know the right way to take. Be my guide to make it through this life the way that You would have me go to make Heaven my home someday. Amen!
