“And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.” (2 Kings 6:6)

In 2 Kings 6, we read about Elisha and his men trying to decide where to go next. They finally decided to go to Jordan and build a place to live in. When they arrived at Jordan, they began to cut wood for the dwelling. One man was cutting and the axe head flew off and into the water. He began to fret because this was borrowed and he didn’t know what to do. Elisha cut a stick, threw it into the water and the axe head rose to the surface then Elisha commanded the man to retrieve it. The man reached out and was able to get it.

Iron axe heads are too heavy and they sink, making it impossible to retrieve. There was nothing special or magical about the stick Elisha used, he just knew what to do. Elisha was a man of God and knew how to pray.

Just like the man believed it was impossible to retrieve the axe head, your situation may seem impossible also, but we serve the God of the impossible. “For with God nothing is impossible” (Luke 1:37). He healed the sick; healed the lame; gave sight to the blind; healed the withered hand; reattached a severed ear; raised the dead; cast out demons; calmed a raging storm; and the list goes on and on. If He can do all that, He can take care of your situation too.

Keep the prayers going and watch Him do the impossible for your situation.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I see this as an impossible situation right now but I know with You, all things are possible. Help me believe You can take care of this situation. Amen!
