“And they called Rebekah, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go.” Genesis 24:58

The story of Isaac and Rebekah is such a beautiful story.  We talked yesterday about how God had guided Abraham’s servant every step of the way and led him directly to the one he had chosen for Isaac’s bride.

Can you imagine how Rebekah must have felt? This strange man had come from a far country on a special mission.  He had given her gifts and made her feel special.  Her family had accepted him and believed his story.  She probably had never ventured far from her family’s home, and now he was asking her to leave everything she knew and loved, and journey with him to a place she had never been, to become the wife of a man she had never seen.

Her family wanted the servant to wait awhile, but finally they realized that the decision would have to be hers.  When asked the question, “Will you go with this man?” she did not hesitate but answered “I will go.”

This story is such a beautiful picture of the Holy Spirit seeking a bride for the Lord Jesus.  He calls us, and we must make the choice to follow or not.  We have never seen Him, yet the gifts He gives, prove His love for us, and with joy we leave the world behind and follow Him.

Prayer:  Lord Jesus, thank you for calling us to be part of your bride, help us to lay aside everything else and follow you wherever you lead.
