For an answer Jesus called over a child, whom he stood in the middle of the room, and said, “I’m telling you, once and for all, that unless you return to square one and start over like children, you’re not even going to get a look at the kingdom, let alone get in. Whoever becomes simple and elemental again, like this child, will rank high in God’s kingdom. What’s more, when you receive the childlike on my account, it’s the same as receiving me. (Matthew 18:2-5, The Message)

As an educator I am constantly surrounded by the stir of little children.  I overhear their conversations about life on a daily basis and I am always pleasantly surprised and amazed by their brilliance.  They listen to everything going on around them and develop theories and ideas about our world that grown ups could never come up with. Children do not overthink or over-analyze, rather they listen, internalize and move on. I know that I am guilty of making simple things complicated and I’m sure I am not alone here. Let’s make an effort to think more like children and be open to whatever it is that God sends our way.

Prayer: God, let us be like little children so that we may one day enter the kingdom of heaven.  I pray that you help us take life as it comes and keep things simple.  In Jesus name, amen.
