“Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends.”

Proverbs 17:9

We women tend to dwell on things, and I can honestly say that I am guilty as charged! My mind wanders and before long I have made up an entire (ridiculous) scenario in my mind that will probably never happen. Am I the only one who does this? Surely it has to be a “woman” thing.  Arguments and past disagreements have a way of suddenly popping into my mind, and I’m frustrated all over again.. about something that happened 6 years ago.

We also have a hard time just moving on from something. We are masters at “fighting” with our husbands because we can recall something that happened weeks ago, months even – while he struggles to remember what you are even arguing about in that moment. This scripture reminds us though that if we forgive a person, love prospers. Love wins! We can experience victory, and freedom because of forgiveness.

Now I know that there are deep rooted issues in some of your lives. Maybe past abuse, or a tragedy that literally shook you to your core and forever changed your life. But forgiveness is beneficial to YOU! Yes, You! Only Jesus can help you to forgive horrible things like that though.. after all, He forgave those who crucified Him and extends mercy to us every day.

Don’t allow something small and petty to break the bond of friendship in your life. And don’t allow whatever is hidden in your closet to keep you from walking in freedom, hand in hand with the King of Kings!

God, help me to really search my heart today. Am I holding onto resentment or becoming bitter about something I should have turned over to You a long time ago? I want nothing between us Lord. I lay it all at Your feet today, help me to walk in freedom and newness of life.
