“Even though the fig trees have no blossoms,

and there are no grapes on the vines;

even though the olive crop fails,

and the fields lie empty and barren;

even though the flocks die in the fields,

and the cattle barns are empty,

yet I will rejoice in the Lord!

I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!”

Habakkuk 3:17-18

The world in 2019 is absolutely consumed with materialistic “stuff” Everyone seems to be in pursuit of the largest home, the fastest car, the latest smartphone… the list is endless.

But even though we can be surrounded by so much stuff, we can oftentimes still feel empty and like we have nothing. Have you ever felt that way in your life? Like your world is crumbling, or you don’t know your purpose or just unfulfilled?

I have been there, and been there recently. I have an incredible life, so I question why I feel the way I do. Is God calling me deeper? Am I not in His Will right now? I still don’t know the answers to those questions, but I do know that I can still rejoice when I feel like I have nothing left.

I’ve learned that God delights in brokenness. Broken praise and broken sacrifices are where He does His best work! If you are feeling today like you have nothing left or nothing you can offer God, know that you can still rejoice in Him and have joy!

Lord, today I am humbled in Your presence. I don’t have much to offer You, not at all what You deserve, but I give you what I have. Simply me, and my heart and my desires and dreams. Use me today Jesus.
