By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. (Genesis 2:2, NIV)
God is our example. He chose to rest on the seventh day because of all the work He had done. If God chose to rest and showed us the importance of rest in the first book of the bible, I think it’s something that we need to consider as we run through our busy lives. In a world filled with noise, we need to take time for ourselves. Schedules will always be full and time will always be scarce. Life always runs smoother when we are refreshed so take time for yourself today.
Prayer: Lord, as we run through life remind us to slow down and take time to rest. Take away any guilt we may feel when we take time for ourselves. You are the giver of all things so I pray for strength and refreshing today in Jesus name, amen.
