“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” Ecclesiastes 3:1 I love this time of year.  After the very hot and humid days we are now experiencing cooler nights and pleasant temperatures during the day.  As summer transitions into fall, it is nice…

“I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread” (Psalm 37:25 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible). Life experience gives us the opportunity to observe those around us from wisdom’s perspective. The psalmist wrote from that vantage point. He had been young with all the joys allotted him and was now living in the golden years. One thing that stood out to him was how God had taken care of the righteous and their offspring. He wrote of something he had not seen in his lifetime. “…yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken…” I’ve joined the ranks of the senior citizens and I can attest to the same pattern. God takes care of the righteous!
Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for taking care of me all of my life. It’s good to know I will not be forsaken. I can count on You. You will supply all of my needs!

Wall-Clock-MAX-7015-It is said that there are two occupations that require 24/7 duty – doctors and preachers. But, God is the original “on call,” any time, all the time, overtime worker!

“For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil” (I Peter 3:12 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible).

God is aware of every move I make and every breath I take. Much of the world prays to gods of stone or wood – images made by man’s hands. These idols cannot hear or answer, nor are they concerned about the everyday life of their followers.

Prayer: Lord, I am thankful for the attentiveness of a Living Savior!

Storms of LifeThe Bible tells many stories of Jesus and His disciples. One day Jesus instructed, “Let us pass over to the other side” (Mark 4:35). A great storm developed before they reached the far shore. Jesus, tired from His teaching, slept in the back of the ship. Frantic, the disciples woke Him. “Don’t you even care that we’re about to die?”
Jesus arose and said, “Peace, be still” (Mark 4:39). They had forgotten that it was Jesus’ idea to make the journey. The fact that it was His idea implied they would have a safe crossing. Storms blow into our lives too. Amid the turmoil and confusion we forget that the Word of God told us, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Hebrews 13:5).

Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to remember You control our storms. Today we ask You to speak peace to our hearts and minds.

“The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.” (Psalm 121:3-6 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible)

In the midst of our most stressful days, God provides protection for us. A difficult employer, family demands, and weariness may threaten to drain our strength, but under the shelter of His hand we find a place of restoration.

Prayer: Whether day or night, I find rest in You. Thank You, Lord, for reminding me today of Your care for me.

“The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.” (Psalm 121:8 in the King James Version of the Bible)

God has amazing eyesight! Even when we are alone, we are never out of His sight. Think of it! We are never truly lost for we are at all times under His watchful eye. We may be emotionally and physically exhausted, and unable to see the dangers ahead, but God is always on guard.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Your presence goes before me, beside me and behind me. Thank you for Your great care for me!

Imagine you are a contestant in a cosmic game show. The host provides the answer. The contestant must provide the appropriate question to that answer.

“Two sparrows cost only a penny, but not even one of them can die without your Father knowing it. God even knows how many hairs are on your head. So don’t be afraid, you are worth much more than many sparrows.” (Matthew 10:29-31, New Century Version)

Prayer: God, I’m glad I don’t have to worry because whatever my question, YOU are the answer!!
