Happiness is fleeting. As much as we’d all like to say we’re happy every single moment, that’s simply not the truth. So many things in life can toy with our emotions. Situations we face, people we encounter, news we hear about — all of these can uplift, discourage or frustrate…
“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24 How do you view your day? Do you wake up every morning, thanking the Lord for a good night’s rest and for another day that He has given you to serve…
“Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy” (Exodus 20:8). It’s Sunday, a day in which most of us will spend time with other believers and worship God together. It’s a day each week when our pace slows somewhat, even if someone has little or no religious connection. One definition of…
“Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord!…
“And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.” (Luke 2:20 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible) Who doesn’t like to be the first to hear good news? Reading the Christmas story…
“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24 Still thinking about my theme for the last couple of days, and found this poem that I wrote a couple of years ago, thought it was appropriate. Where did yesterday…

- I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High, (Psalm 9:2, Holy Bible, King James Version). The simplified meaning of rejoice is to be happy. When things go our way, rejoicing is easy. Excitement flows when expectations are fulfilled. Smiles and laughter are automatic. The secondary meaning of rejoice is to make someone happy. The New Living Translation reads “I will be filled with joy because of you.” Reverse rejoicing, joy because of others, is what the Psalmist had in mind. Happiness flowed when he rejoiced in God.
