“Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.”

Galatians 5:24

Cross, Sunset, Sunrise, Hill, Sky, Sun, Crucifixion

We just wrapped up another Easter weekend, and what a weekend it was. We had a jam-packed schedule as I’m sure many of you did, including two productions of our “He’s Alive” drama/musical. The week before was spent practicing and practicing and.. you guessed it, practicing. After awhile though, it just became another thing on the schedule to do, and for me the real message of Easter got lost in the chaos.

In the crucifixion scene though, my heart was shattered into a million pieces as I felt the presence of God sweep into rehearsal and completely wreck me. As the actor who portrayed Jesus cried out in agony, I quickly remembered why we were doing what we were doing.

The cross.

The price He paid.

His love for me.

The weekend went off without a hitch and we had many first time visitors come out to watch the drama. God moved in a great way,  and I truly believe only eternity will tell what was accomplished over the course of those two days. But now its up to me to make the cross the focus everyday of my life.  I must die to self daily, and nail every sin to the cross. Calvary goes beyond one weekend, it is everything.

I am so thankful for the cross today Lord. Because of Your sacrifice, I can experience new mercies every morning. I have access to salvation, and I know Your hand is always extending grace to me. I am Your child, and I celebrate that today. Help me to make the cross my focus everyday.
