“And let us NOT be weary in well doing for we shall reap, if we faint not” (Galatians 6:9 in the King James Version of the Bible). “So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good” (Galatians 6:9 in the Message Bible).
I know of no one that likes to go to a waiting room. It doesn’t matter how many good books or games are there to entertain you while waiting. Those reading this devotional could probably recall the longest time they had to wait in one of those awful waiting rooms.
Human beings by nature don’t like to wait. I know that I don’t. It started off in the beginning. Eve had trouble waiting. When God told her “No” she decided to see why she couldn’t eat from the tree of Knowledge.
The world we live in wants us to expect everything right now. This idea will grab ahold of you if you let it.
- Noah trusted God; did what he said; and saw his dreams fulfilled 100 years later!
- Sarah decided she was tired waiting and talked Abraham into taking her handmaiden to speed up the process. At 100 Abraham saw that miracle child!
At the right time, we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit. Right now, therefore, every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith.
Prayer: Today, Lord, I am struggling in my own personal waiting room. It seems like the answer is slow in coming. The results of all of my efforts seem futile. Give strength to my fatigued soul. Help me to keep trusting in You and not others.
