Today is Ours

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8

Today is a precious gift that the Lord has given us. He has entrusted us with twenty-four hours and He has a plan for every minute. He has provided hours of darkness, so we can sleep and restore our bodies. We will spend time in eating, nourishing our bodies, giving us strength for the tasks of the day. We will spend time in prayer and reading His Word, for our spiritual nourishment. He knows everything we will face today, good and bad, and we can safely trust Him to direct every step. As  we  seek His guidance. He will give us the strength that we need for whatever the day holds.

We can rest upon His promise that He never changes – He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His love for us never wavers no matter what we do. We are human, so there will be times that we fail Him, but His gentle hand is there to direct us back to the right path. His Holy Spirit convicts us and shows us where we have gone astray, forgives us and restores our joy in Him.

The Psalmist said, “This is the day that the Lord hath made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.” We have no promise of tomorrow, but today is ours and our responsibility is to give it in the Lord’s hands, walk in the way that He directs, and be a blessing to all that we encounter.

Prayer: Jesus, we thank you for today. We desire to please you and we trust you to guide and direct us in everything we do. Make us a blessing to others.
