Then the king placed Daniel in a high position and lavished many gifts on him. He made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and placed him in charge of all its wise men. Moreover, at Daniel’s request the king appointed Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego administrators over the province of Babylon, while Daniel himself remained at the royal court. (Daniel 2:48-49, NIV)

God allows us to face obstacles in order for us to grow. One minute life can be going perfectly well and you couldn’t imagine anything happening to change that. I’m sure that Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego had no idea what kind of trials they were headed for. Looking ahead, we know who ultimately came out on top, but that doesn’t take away from the stress they went through during that time. Keep your eyes on the Lord and you will get through anything that comes your way. Remember to walk with Him in the good times so that when trials come, you will have the strength to get through.

Prayer: Lord, help us to remember how important it is to invest time in getting closer to you even when everything in our lives is seemingly perfect. I am so thankful to know that you are always with us, in both good and bad times. We are so undeserving of your mercy and yet you continuously give it to us. Thank you, Jesus! Amen.
