Having an Expectation

One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. Psalm 27:4.

I have been looking forward to Sunday’s service all week. I love my alone time with God, but there is also something so precious about being with the body of Christ. I am strengthened when I worship next to fellow believers; their faith is infectious and encouraging.

Today, I want to encourage you to step out of your comfort zone, whether you are watching an online service or attending one in person. Pray, “Don’t let me miss what Your spirit is saying unto the church. Drive me into a place of deep prayer.” “Lord, I don’t want to miss Your still small voice beckoning me to draw closer to You and I do not want to unknowingly ignore Your will for my life.”

We do not go to church to be entertained, we go to church to entertain the presence of God.

Many of us believe that God is able to do amazing things. We believe He can heal—we believe He can save—we believe He can deliver, provide, and lead us to do His will. But, do we expect Him to do those things?

Believing and expecting are two totally different expressions of faith.

Express to the Lord today, “I believe You can (fill in the blank) and I have an expectation that You will (fill in the blank) according to Your word that is forever settled in heaven. Also, I encourage you to study the Word of God and write down every scripture that pertains to your specific prayers and read them aloud when you pray.

Everyday I live I try to have an undeniable expectation that something miraculous is going to take place. Honestly, I have butterflies in my stomach when I think about the power of God. I never want to grow weary of God’s majesty but desire to stand in awe of Him always.
