“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” I John 4:18.
Fear entered my room. I was paralyzed. Something powerful had hold of me, like a heavy weight on my back. I have never felt anything like it and hope I never do again. I began to plead the blood of the Lord and cry out for Jesus to help me. I felt whatever it was let go, and I became fully awake. My heart was pounding, it had been so real. I checked my bed expecting to find something. Was it a dream, or did a spirit of fear enter my apartment that night? I will never know for sure, but I will always remember the feeling of peace that I felt as Jesus heard my cry.
For those of us who live alone, I am sure that the enemy would like to put fear upon us. We have no idea how long this isolation will last, or whether we or some of our family will be infected by this virus. How important it is to keep in constant prayer, asking the Lord to cover us with His blood and fill our hearts with His peace.
I would like to share some scriptures that we can keep repeating, knowing that the Sword of the Spirit can defeat whatever fears the devil may bring to our minds.
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4.
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10.
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” II Timothy 1:7.
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Philippians 4:6.
“Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.” Luke 12:6-7.
Our future may not be plain before us right now, but we know who is in control of that future, and it is best that He hides it from us. We must live one day at a time trusting the One that said He would never leave us nor forsake us. His love will keep us from fear.
Prayer: Jesus, help us to lean on you when things would seem to overwhelm us, and we can’t understand all that is happening. Give us your peace to replace the torment that fear brings.

Sis Anne, whenever I read your devotions I ask God to bless and keep you in His care. Your messages resonate with anyone reading them no matter how young or old they are. God’s Word never changes. Great is His faithfulness.
