This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24

How do you view your day?  Do you wake up every morning, thanking the Lord for a good night’s rest and for another day that He has given you to serve Him?  Or, do you wake up thinking of all the things that you have to do today, and worry about how you are going to find the time and the energy to get them done?

We have had a very hot summer and most days the windows have had to stay closed with the air conditioner running continuously.  But the last few days have been a bit cooler, and it is so nice to open the windows and let the fresh air in.  In the morning I wake to the sound of birds singing their praise to their Creator.  I thank the Lord for the rest He has given me, and for the strength and energy that He has provided for this day.  I don’t know what the day holds, but I do know that the Lord will be with me every minute, guiding my steps.

No matter what may happen throughout the day, I have the assurance that Jesus is in control and that He will not allow anything to come my way that is not in His will.  If there are trials to face, difficulties to overcome, or something special He wants me to do, I can trust that His hand will guide me every moment.  It is His desire that I have a good day, but the choice is up to me how I react to circumstances and how much I trust Him.

Today is a new day.  Yesterday’s problems and frustrations are behind me.  How will I treat this day?  Will I rejoice and be glad in it, or will I find reasons to feel depressed, sad, or angry? Jesus has given me the day and it is my choice how I spend it.  When I lay my head on the pillow tonight, will I be able to thank the Lord for a good day, and rejoice in the blessings He has bestowed upon me?  Or will I have regrets about things I could have done differently?  Like the Psalmist I want to rejoice and be glad every minute of this day.  This is the day that the Lord has made, and I choose to worship Him.

Prayer: Jesus we are so thankful that you have given us another day to serve you.  Guide our steps, may our hearts be filled with praise and thanksgiving to you, and may your will be done in our lives today.
