“That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:” (1 Peter 1:7). Who wants to go through trials? It hurts when the fire…
“Our Savior’s call to prayer is simply a clarion call to holiness. “Be ye holy!” for without holiness no man can see God, and prayer cannot be efficacious.” -The Kneeling Christian
“They went to him and said, Teacher, we know that you are honest. You treat everyone with the same respect, no matter who they are. And you teach the truth about what God wants people to do…” (Mark 12:14 in the Contemporary English Version of the Holy Bible). It is said that integrity is when you spend as much time on the backyard as you do on the front. Jesus Christ taught by example that we too must live each day speaking the truth and acting with integrity.
Prayer: Lord, Your words are true and You keep all of Your promises. I can rely on Your Word – on Your integrity. Help me to fulfill my obligations and responsibilities with integrity. And, may I always speak the truth in love. Amen.

“Restore us, O Lord, and bring us back to you again! Give us back the joys we once had!” (Lamentations 5:21 in the New Living Translation of the Holy Bible). I’ve always had a fascination and appreciation for individuals who can restore antique furniture to its original grandeur. A battered,…
“When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?” [John 5:6] You’ve heard of him; the man at the pool of Bethesda. No wonder Jesus asked him if he wanted to…
“I am warning you ahead of time, dear friends, so that you can watch out and not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people. I don’t want you to lose your own secure footing.” 2 Peter 3:17 (New Living Translation).
In the Southern United States, we have tornado warnings that make us aware of tornadoes in the area. So, I understand the concept of hearing and responding to a warning. A new year is upon us and the warning from the Apostle Peter in our devotional verse is still relevant to Christians today. Peter realized his death was eminent and he was warning the followers of Christ that they needed to be extra vigilant of wicked people who could lead them away from the Truth of God’s Word.
Prayer: Jesus, please help me to stay alert to the tricks of Satan. As the old song says, “Keep me true Lord Jesus, keep me true. There’s a race that I must run, there are victories to be won. Every hour by thy power, keep me true.” Amen.
