“But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called everyone, so let him walk.” I Corinthians 7:17

The Message reads “And don’t be wishing you were someplace else or with someone else. Where you are right now is God’s place for you. Live and obey, love, and believe right there. God, not your marital status, defines your life.”

Have you ever asked yourself the question: “Why am I here?” Perhaps you look at your circumstances and think that you would be better off somewhere else. Maybe you have thought that if you had a different family, lived in a different town, went to a different church, or had a better job, you could do so much more for the Lord.

The Lord has a purpose and a plan for each one of us. We may not always understand why He leads us in the way He does. Sometimes we may wonder how different life might have been if we had made different choices. As we look back on the path we have walked, we realize that the Lord had a big picture in mind. He knew what would happen in the future, and so led us step by step, year by year, to position us where He wanted us to be.

This verse in Corinthians stresses the fact that God has strategically placed you and me in the place where He can use us. When we realize our circumstances are what the Lord has assigned us, we can be content. As we spend time each day reading His Word and communicating with Him in prayer. He will open the doors for us to be a blessing to others.

Ephesians 1:11 “In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will.”

Philippians 4:11 “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.”

This week, let us consider instances in the Bible where God strategically placed people where He needed them to fulfill His plan and purpose. Their stories are recorded in Scripture to be an encouragement for us.

Prayer: Jesus, we thank you for your plan for our lives. Help us to be content in the place you have assigned us and use us in your service.
