“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” John 13:34–35 (NLT)

The Power of a Heartbeat

The human heart begins to beat within the first month of life in the womb. From that moment until the day it stops, it works tirelessly to keep us alive.

  • 72 beats per minute on average
  • Over 100,000 beats per day
  • About 38 million beats per year
  • Roughly 2.5 billion beats in a lifetime

It never waits for a reminder. It beats because it was designed for a purpose—just as God designed our spiritual hearts to express love and give evidence of life in Him.

Pause for a moment. Place your hand over your chest. That steady rhythm is a testimony of God’s purpose for you. You are alive for a reason.

The Heartbeat of Our Savior

On the cross, the heartbeat of Jesus resounded with forgiveness, mercy, and unending love. As His blood flowed, so did grace—available to every person, every generation. God’s love has never stopped. His heart beats for you, for your family, for the hurting and the lost, for the entire world.

A Heart Like His

What is your heart beating for today—earthly treasures or eternal ones? Do you long for a heavenly heartbeat that matches His? Today, let’s pray for the heartbeat of God.

Prayer

Lord, I long to feel Your heartbeat. Shape my desires to love what You love and to love who You love. Place someone on my heart today to pray for and encourage. Let my life pulse with Your unending love. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Reflection Prompt:

Who is God placing on your heart right now? Write their name and pray for them today.
