Psalms 111:10 ESV “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have good understanding. His praise endures forever!” Psalms 33:8 “Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him” I love taking scripture and breaking it down. I had a family member recently ask me what it means to “fear the Lord” so my mind immediately went to the above scripture. I will be honest though, I always struggled to understand exactly what “fear” in this context meant. In this scripture, the biblical…
“But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water. Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”…
Psalms 69:32 ESV “When the humble see it they will be glad; you who seek God, let your hearts revive.” Have you ever felt tired? I have two daughters, both of whom were terrible sleepers since birth. They were most needy during the night, waking up anywhere from 5-6 times…

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). I’m fortunate to live in an area that enjoys four seasons of weather. Or at least I say that when the temperature isn’t freezing me with sub-zero blasts or roasting me with summer’s extreme heat. We have days filled with sunshine, winter snows, stormy days that can form tornados, and days filled with beautiful fall hues as the trees turn. Each season seems to have its good days and some not-so-good days. We also go through seasons in life. We love to…
“Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy” (Exodus 20:8). It’s Sunday, a day in which most of us will spend time with other believers and worship God together. It’s a day each week when our pace slows somewhat, even if someone has little or no religious connection. One definition of the word Sabbath is intermission. It’s an interlude, a pause, before we pick up our daily tasks and move into another week of work and activity. What is so important about Sabbath that God included it in the Ten Commandments? He didn’t suggest it; He commanded us to observe this…
“I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.” Psalm 122:1 Today is a very special day, the day we gather together in the house of the Lord to worship Him and to fellowship with our brothers and sisters. It is a day we look forward to all week long. I know we get together for Bible study and perhaps at other times during the week, but Sundays are special. Most of us have heard the quote by President John F Kennedy in his speech on January 1961: “Ask not what your…
Not too many of us enjoy waiting, especially if we are on time and someone else is late. The longer we wait, the more frustrated we get, because we are not doing anything except waiting. Have you ever been tired of waiting on the Lord? He’s promised an answer, but you think He’s late in providing it. Maybe it’s time to activate faith AND works. Continue believing that the answer is coming, but don’t stop doing the good things you know to do while you are waiting. “And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart…
