And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: Even on My menservants and maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy, Acts 2:17-18. Acts 2:17-18 fulfill the prophecy that is Joel 2:28-29. These scriptures explain that in the end time there will be a generation of young people who are going to rise up and speak what heaven is…
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2 The late T.F. Tenney said in one of his sermons, “The main thing is keeping the main thing the main thing.” That’s fun to say, but what exactly is the main thing? As twenty-first century Christians our “main thing” is keeping Jesus Christ at the center of our lives and the focus of our attention. Jesus is the main thing. The weights and sins that “so easily beset us” are the things that are passing, momentary, and trivial. But the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ is lasting, eternal, and significant in our spiritual life. So, how do we keep the main thing the main thing? Well, let me tell you a story about a tiny brook. Once upon…
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness… So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them, Genesis 1:26-27. We are created in the image and likeness of God. These words have two very different meanings. Image is displaying God’s glory; it is an outward representation of who God is and when people look at us, they should know that we are His ambassadors. People will see our countenance and observe how gracious we are to others. Likeness is displaying God’s characteristics; it is an inward representation of God’s character in our lives. When people talk with us, communicate with us, and observe how we treat one another, then they should hear and feel the character of God displayed in our life. We are to be image bearers of God. There is eternal influence when we walk in our created calling as women of God. We need to recognize the power we have being image bearers of God and to seek after being the true body of Christ as a united front. In God’s design, He didn’t create us to bear His…
Grief has a way of halting day-to-day activities, bringing us to a stand still. Sorrow is clothed with a heavy garment; losing a job, breaking up with someone, not getting an offer accepted on your dream home, or the passing of a loved one can overwhelm us with deep emotional strain. Jesus gives us a great exchange. We give Him our sin and He makes us white as snow. We give Him our sorrow, and He gives us joy. We give Him our burdens, and He will help carry them. God desires to give beauty for ashes, the oil of…
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away, Revelation 21:4. Not every day is the same; there are days that are mundane, others that are productive, and some days completely change the course of your entire life. February 26, 2024, was a day that changed my life forever. 8:49 am was the moment my daddy was transported from this world into glory; the moment my earthly father was reunited with my heavenly father. 8:49 am was the moment my future days on this earth would be void of my daddy’s voice and presence. My words are too many to describe my love toward my father, too hard to describe the depth of grief I feel, and too confusing to explain the peace and strength I have that is sourced from my Savior. All I know is my dad is no longer in physical pain from health complications, and every memory dementia stole has been restored. He feels no sorrow, or pain, or even has tears, and the sting of death became an instantaneous…
“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” (Luke 24:49, NKJV) Jesus spoke these words to His disciples during the forty days between His resurrection and the day He was caught up to heaven. During the time He spent with them, He spoke of “the things pertaining to the kingdom of God” (Acts 1:3). Although they had been with Him during His years of ministry, there was still so much for them to learn and understand. When those gathered in the Upper Room were filled with the Spirit, they received this promised power. Power to see miracles happen (Mark 16:17-19) Power for witnessing (Acts 1:8) Power greater than our timidity or fear (II Timothy 1:7) Power that works within us (Ephesians 3:20) Power to live a godly life with excellence (II Peter 1:3) Power to abound in hope (Romans 15:13) Resurrection power (Romans 8:11) This kind of power does not come from our own ability. It only comes from the Spirit of God dwelling inside and empowering us. God is the source of our power. “But we have this treasure in jars of…
