And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Mark 4:39, KJV.
Jesus is in your storm. It may feel like He is miles away, or sleeping, but He is in your boat. He sees the waves, He hears the roaring wind, and He senses your fear and anguish. He is there with you. He is waiting for you to call out for help.
Peace be still.
The storm that shook grown men to fear for their lives, ceased after three simple words.
Peace be still.
The raging waves in your life can turn to a still, reflection pond in a moment. Pray, “Peace be still over my family.” “Peace be still over my marriage.” “Peace be still over this diagnosis.” “Peace be still over my finances.” “Peace be still over *fill in the blank*.
Wonderful Peace
This older song has been a part of my personal devotion lately. I long for God’s peace in my life and I desire to be have His billows of love surround me like a fluffy cloud. Peace tells our anxiety that we do not have to worry and His spirit will lift us out of our despondent state into a place of refuge.
Peace, peace, wonderful peace
Coming down from the Father above
Sweep over my spirit, forever I pray
In fathomless billows of love
Prayer Focus:
After reading this devotion can you do something for me? Can you close your eyes and breathe deeply for five long breaths in and five long breaths out. Then would you pray, “God, I give You control of this day. Take away the anxiety I feel and help me to walk in the newness of life. Release me of the expectations I have placed on myself and show me Your perfect will for my life. I choose to rest in Your peace today. Lord, speak, peace be still, over my life.”
