“There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.” Psalm 46:4 The word river is used so many times in the Scripture, to illustrate God’s provision for His people. The Lord placed rivers in the Garden of Eden to provide water. Moses’ life was saved when his mother placed him in a basked in the river in Egypt, and the princess rescued him. “And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh.” Ezekiel 47:9 What a beautiful picture Ezekiel paints in this this chapter, of the river which originated in the temple and flowed out, blessing all the land around it.
