“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony;” Revelation 12:11 Recently I had the privilege of hearing a young man give his testimony of how the Lord had delivered him from a drug addiction. It was the story of a marvelous…
“I say this about the LORD, my shelter and my stronghold, my God in whom I trust – he will certainly rescue you from the snare of the hunter and from the destructive plague” (Psalm 91:2-3, New English Translation). I have a weekly visitor at my house that has caused…
You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you. (2 Chronicles 20:17, NIV)…

“When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by.” (Exodus 33:22 in the New International Version.) During a recent vacation in the mountains of North Carolina I observed clefts tucked away in the rocks. They looked like little porches where a bird or small animal could stay to weather out a storm. This portion of scripture let Moses know that God was going to shelter him in time of storm. 1 Corinthians 10:4 said, “That rock was Christ.” It’s not speaking of these clefts but it’s talking about our God being a refuge. As we were walking and observing God’s beautiful creation my mind went to this passage. These clefts are not man made; they are made by God alone. He formed them with His own hands. He shelters us from the storms of life when we belong to Him.

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for the special shelters You have prepared for Your people. Though the storm rages on all around me, I’m protected by the cleft of the rock.

Maybe today you feel like you’re at the end of what you can take. Your world has fallen apart. There are more questions than answers. God is there and He will help you go on. The year was 1966 and my husband was in the Air Force stationed in Cam…
“They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them. They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly.” (Psalm 112:7-8 from the NLT of the Holy Bible) Wouldn’t it be great if we could all live as Psalm 112:7 describes? To not…
- When a person is endangered from an external source, law enforcement officers may place them in protective custody for safety reasons. I like to think this is what Jesus had in mind when He offered a prayer for my safety in a world where evil persists. I imagine Him placing an invisible shield around me. I am in His protective custody.
- “I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one,” (John 17:15 from the Holy Bible, New King James).

Prayer : Thank You Lord for a shield that surrounds me. I am in Your protective custody. Amen.

“He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shall thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.” (Psalm 91:4 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible) Reading this verse in my morning devotion helped me realize that He’s got you and me covered. It’s…
The Holy Bible tells the story of 3 men who were sent to die in a fiery furnace because they served the One True Living God and everyone else served a statue. When all was said and done, they weren’t burned, they weren’t even singed!
READ: Daniel 3:25,27 in the Holy Bible, King James Version…
“He ( the king) answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God…And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.”
It’s the same today for each of us! If we will serve the One True Living God, even if no one else is, God will be with us in the fires of our lives. And when all is said and done, we won’t even have a smoky smell!
In the Fire – But not Affected
In the Fire – But Protected
In the Fire – No Smoke Detected
Prayer: God I want to serve you no matter what anyone else does! Protect me from the fires in my life.
