“Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.” Psalm 112:6
Oxford Dictionary describes steadfastness as “the quality of being resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering.”
One of the best descriptions the Bible records of a blessed person can be found in the first verse of Psalm One: “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water.” The tree sends its roots down deep into the soil and draws the water it needs to sustain life and produce fruit. Storms may come and winds blow. The tree may bend but it will not break because its roots are deep.
So we, who have committed our lives completely to the Lord will let nothing sway us from serving Him. Like the chorus we used to sing in church, “Just like a tree planted by the water I shall not be moved.” God has not promised us that life will be all sunshine. Storms will come. We face the same difficulties that everyone else faces in life. But our faith will keep us steadfast and unmovable. Our minds are made up; we will make it through.
Romans 8:38-39 “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
I Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
I Corinthians 16:13“Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.”
Jesus will be returning soon and those who have been steadfast and faithful will be caught up to meet Him in the air. Let us stand firm, and steadfast until the end.
Matthew 24:13 “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”
Prayer Jesus, we look around at our world and see all the signs being fulfilled that show your coming is near. We thank you for the desire you have placed in our hearts to stand firm. Thank you for the hope we have of spending eternity with you.
