Create in Me: He Does Not Let Us Forget

Focus Verses: Genesis 1:28b-31

These verses remind us of all that God has provided and the dominion He has given us over it all.  He allows us to rule over the land and the animals that He placed there for our enjoyment and for our use.  Provision was formed, divided, added, and multiplied before He breathed into our nostrils the breath of life and made us living souls.

God always knows exactly what we need before we realize we need it.  The things we desire, the things we need to live, the Word our souls crave and must possess are always right where we need them. We just have to listen to what He’s speaking to us. 

I tend to forget that it’s all going to be okay.  I get in a rut and stay there, consumed by fear or discouragement of what I have done to miss out on my blessings and provisions.  But can I really lose what He has called mine?  I don’t have the power to do that any more than I have the power to create what I need.  He is my Creator, Provider, Way Maker.  He has given me dominion over the provision but that does not give me the power to override His ability or desire to give me what I need. 

He tells us over and over in His Word that if we are righteous, He will take care of us.  I may fall short and not always be to the level I feel like I need to be spiritually.  I can speak encouragement into others but I don’t always allow myself to receive encouragement.  There are verses that Jesus puts on my heart often as a reminder of what is required of me. Other verses tell me how He plans and promises to bless me.  There are many verses that tell us similar things in the Bible, but Philippians 4:8 is the one that I feel like He wants me to remember to take personally.  He does that you know.  He is the one who created you. When He let the Word go forth, there is no doubt that He knew certain passages of scripture would stand out to different individuals.  There is no doubt He even saw the specific faces and called out specific names as He let those specific verses go forth.  Think about the smile on God’s face as He envisions His Word touching your heart. 

It’s okay if you don’t have a verse that you take more personally. Maybe you just haven’t found it yet.  If you want one, or more, ask Him to reveal them to you.  Think of a word that means something big to you and search for it in the concordance of the Bible.  That’s another fun way to study the Bible.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.

Prayer Focus

Ask for a reminder.  I find myself asking Jesus to remind me multiple times a day to do a certain thing or think on certain things.  The world around us moves so fast and we are so quick to let it grab hold of us and sweep us away into things that are not eternal.  Stop, right now.  Ask Jesus to remind you right now of the things you should be thinking on.  Invite Him to interrupt you throughout the rest of the day, as well, with little, or big, reminders of where your focus needs to be.

Ask Jesus to remind you right now of the things you should be thinking on (Philippians 4:8).
