“I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” Psalm 37:25

Today is my birthday. I do not remember the day that I was born, only know the stories that I was told about that day. I have some recollections of things that happened when I was young, but there are a lot more that I cannot remember.

As I get older, I realize so much more how good the Lord has been to me. I am so thankful that from an early age I went to Sunday School and church. I am thankful that my parents gave their lives to the Lord while I was still young and that I had an experience with God as well. Many times, I failed the Lord, but I am so thankful that His hand was upon me, and that He kept me from so many things in the world that could have destroyed my life.

I am thankful that the Lord sent a wonderful man into my life who became my husband and the father of my children. I am thankful for the many years we had together. Even though the Lord saw fit to take him home many years ago, I cherish the memories of our time together. When we were raising our children, we went through times when things were hard. My husband’s place of employment closed, and because of his age and physical condition, he was not able to find another job. But the Lord had provided me with a good job and always met our needs. I reminded my children just recently, that they never went hungry. I am thankful for the way that the Lord is blessing each one of them today.

I am also thankful for the many opportunities I have had to use the abilities and talents that the Lord has given me to minister to others. The hats I have worn through the years have been varied and exciting. When it looked like there was not much more that I could do, God opened new doors. I am thankful for this opportunity to use my time and abilities to write on this platform each month. I do not take it lightly. I want to be a blessing as long as the Lord gives me health and strength.

I thank God for another birthday. Only God knows how many more I will have, but I want to use whatever time I have left to serve the Lord, knowing that He is always with me and will supply my every need. None of us know what tomorrow holds, but we do know that the Lord will never forsake us.

Prayer: Thank you Lord, for another year I have had to walk with you. I pray that you will lead and guide me and keep me faithful to you until you call me home.
