Someone sent me the following in an e-mail message. It had no title so I entitled it, “If.”

If the economy collapses, He is still my Provider!
If the healthcare is unsustainable, He is still my Healer!
If disaster shall come, He is still my Protector!
If the powers that be strip me of my patriotism, He is still my banner!
If my life should be taken, He is still my Salvation!
He is my God. He is Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life!

Prayer: I am so glad that You are my God and You are the same yesterday, today and forever. The world I live in is so “iffy” it makes it hard to plan anything. You never change. You can handle any “if” that comes along. Amen!

“He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble: I will deliver him, and honour him” (Psalm 91:15 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible). In my opinion one of the neatest inventions is “Caller ID.” I have it and use it when I don’t want to answer sales calls. The program allows me to screen my incoming telephone calls with the option to choose which ones to answer. In contrast, it’s so good to have a God who always answers when we call. It’s a given! He wants to hear from you. Not only does He answer us but, He will be with us when we are in trouble; deliver us and honor us for calling on Him. Can’t beat that kind of deal, can you?

Prayer: I really don’t know how people live without you, Lord. It seems like trouble follows me around; so glad that You do too!

Words are so important particularly to those who are grieving over the loss of a loved one. Often I am at a loss for words. The Apostle Paul writing to the church at Thessalonica gave them words to comfort one another. They were words of hope when he told them that the Lord would descend from heaven with a shout. “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:19 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible). What comforting words these are!

Prayer: Hope of Your soon return is a comforting word for me. When I feel such heaviness over my losses, I can read Your Word and be comforted knowing You are coming back to take us from this world of sorrow. Thank You, Jesus!

“And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four” Mark 2:3 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible).

I recently read a book entitled, “When I Lay My Isaac Down: Unshakable Faith in Unthinkable Circumstances” by Carol Kent. Carol and her husband, Gene, have only one son, J.P., who is serving a life sentence without parole for killing a man at gun point outside a restaurant in Orlando, Florida. Their journey through this unthinkable circumstance has not shaken their faith in God. Carol refers to the friends who helped her as “stretcher bearers.” She wrote, “We will all wind up on the stretcher at some point in life.” The unexpected happens to all putting us at the mercy of others. Thank You, Lord, for my friends!

Prayer: Jesus, please help me to be a stretcher bearer for those who are in need of assistance. It may be that I am next to need someone to lift me up and carry me to You!
