“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”  (Matthew 6:14 KJV)

It was Sunday morning and we had a wonderful service.  The altar was full of those hungry for more of God.  As the service closed, an older man in our church came to the organ where I was and asked my forgiveness after a time in the altar.  He said, “I have said things about you that I have found out were not true.  Please forgive me.”

I had a choice to make.  Forgive and let it go or insist on knowing what all he had said about me.  Very quickly I told him that I would forgive him.  We do forgiveness.  One of the reasons is that I want God to forgive me when I’ve done wrong.

This scripture is highlighted in red; which means Jesus is speaking.  The next verse reads,

“But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” (Matthew 6:15 KJV)

After reading these two scriptures, I feel Jesus wants us to do forgiveness.  He makes it very clear that when we don’t forgive He will not forgive us.  It’s a big deal with God.

Prayer:  Thank You, Lord, for the many times You have forgiven me.  Let mercy and grace dominate my spirit so that I will be quick to forgive others.
