“But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.” Isaiah 64.8

For the past few days, we have considered women in the Bible who found themselves broken in body, mind, or spirit. The Lord reached out to each one, took the broken pieces, and formed a vessel that was of value for His kingdom. I trust that we have all been inspired by their stories and that they have encouraged us to bring our brokenness to the Lord and let Him restore and make something beautiful of each of us.

These are only a few examples. I encourage you to investigate the Scriptures and find other women who were broken in one way or another. The Bible does not just tell us the stories of perfect people, but it records the good and the bad. And as we look into the mirror of His Word, we will find examples that will apply to our situation. We can learn from the stories we find there.

II Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”

No one is perfect. We all have flaws and imperfections, but God, in His mercy and love, looks beyond all of those and sees the finished vessel – one of beauty and usefulness. All He asks is that we have an open heart, willing to listen to His Word and the soft voice of His Spirit as He shows us what needs to change. Little by little, day by day, prayer by prayer, He is changing us into something beautiful.

II Timothy 2:19-21 “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.”

Thought For Today: When we surrender the broken pieces of our lives to the Lord, He forms them together into a beautiful vessel He can use for His glory.
