“They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them. They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly.” (Psalm 112:7-8 from the NLT of the Holy Bible) Wouldn’t it be great if we could all live as Psalm 112:7 describes? To not…
“The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be…

“In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11 from the Holy Bible, New King James). How much joy does it take to fill a cup? A bucket? An ocean? Joy cannot be measured like liquid for a recipe. When we bask in the presence of Jehovah, we are surrounded by an ocean of joy.
-
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I pray this day that You will cover me with Your presence. Let me experience the fullness of Your joy. Amen.

“May God be merciful and bless us. May his face smile with favor on us. [Interlude] May your ways be known throughout the earth, your saving power among people everywhere” (Psalm 67:1-2 from the Holy Bible, New Living Translation). At first glance, this psalm, a song, seems straightforward, asking for God’s mercy and blessings for people in his circle. The purpose shifts with the interlude when stringed music absent of words moves the writer’s focus to concentrate on the need for saving power for people everywhere. When I pray, do I remember that it’s not about me? It’s about us.
-
Prayer: Eternal God, I give you highest praise because You have smiled on all of us. Amen.

ul>“If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost?” (Matthew 18:12 Holy Bible, New Living Translation). If anyone has ever gone missing from your community, especially a child, you remember the dedicated efforts to locate that person. Panic turned to organization, involvement and support. Volunteers forgot daily routine and plunged into the search, often leaving other family at home. Jesus told the story of the missing sheep as a reminder where the shepherd cares so much for a missing sheep, he leaves the flock safely behind to rescue one lost sheep. If you’ve gone missing, or wandered away, hang on. Rescue is on the way.

- “The LORD shall reign for ever and ever,” (Exodus 15:18 from the Holy Bible, King James). Moses and the Israelites sang praises to God after they crossed the Red Sea on dry ground. After a miracle like that, who could help but sing? Emotions exuded hope and expectation. Miriam danced with a timbrel, a tambourine, in her hand and all the women followed. With joy in the camp, they sang in honor of the eternal God. Today is your time to dance and sing.
- Prayer : I honor You God with a song from my lips and a dance in my feet. Amen.

- When a person is endangered from an external source, law enforcement officers may place them in protective custody for safety reasons. I like to think this is what Jesus had in mind when He offered a prayer for my safety in a world where evil persists. I imagine Him placing an invisible shield around me. I am in His protective custody.
- “I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one,” (John 17:15 from the Holy Bible, New King James).
-
Prayer : Thank You Lord for a shield that surrounds me. I am in Your protective custody. Amen.

- Jesus performed a miracle healing a young girl. He continued to His destination, but He and the disciples were not alone. Two desperate followed, then intruded in the home where Jesus was a guest. He didn’t ignore them, or have them thrown into the street. He questioned their faith, not their unfavorable social etiquette.
- “When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, ‘Son of David, have mercy on us!’ And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, ‘Do you believe that I am able to do this?’ They said to Him, ‘Yes, Lord.’ Then He touched their eyes, saying, ‘According to your faith let it be to you.’ ” (Matthew 9:26-29 from the Holy Bible New King James).
-
Prayer: Thank You Lord for Your continual healing touch for those who believe in You today. Amen.

- Payphone or cell phone? MP3 or antique gramophone? Computer screen or chalkboard? No contest. We are a technology generation.High-tech wins. It’s great but has one major flaw. Technology produces impatience. If the internet connection doesn’t open in less than ten seconds, we tap our fingers or click the mouse. Email or text messages beg for immediate reply. Do we treat prayer the same way? Pray. Click. Send message heavenward. Pace the floor waiting for instant message reply. Frustration follows when there’s no immediate response. God anticipated this reaction. He responded long before you asked. His answer? Waiting produces strength.
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint,” (Isaiah 40:31, Holy Bible, King James).
-
Prayer : Lord, I have faith but little patience. Strengthen me while I wait. Amen.
