“Daniel soon proved himself more capable than all the other administrators and high officers. Because of Daniel’s great ability, the king made plans to place him over the entire empire.”

Daniel 6:3 NLT

Little is known about Daniel’s family and lineage, but we can read that Daniel came from the tribe of Judah. This young man was forcefully plucked from his life of comfort and taken to a foreign land where he was given the task of learning the culture and ways of the Babylonian people. Daniel could have easily become bitter and angry given his situation, but rather he flourished and thrived in every season of his life.

Daniel, just a face in the crowd, was given the ability to interpret the King’s dreams, and his role in the kingdom only grew from there. Of course, with promotion comes persecution and setbacks, but Daniel proved time and time again that he was fully surrendered to the plan that God had for his life.

From dream interpreter, Daniel was given various roles in the government in which he greatly succeeded. Daniel 6:1-3 reads “Darius the Mede decided to divide the kingdom into 120 provinces, and he appointed a high officer to rule over each province. The king also chose Daniel and two others as administrators to supervise the high officers and protect the king’s interests. Daniel soon proved himself more capable than all the other administrators and high officers. Because of Daniel’s great ability, the king made plans to place him over the entire empire.”

We can also read in Daniel 6:28 that “…Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.”

Daniel’s life is one of growth, and we can see that he is in a constant state of promotion. He was always moving forward, experiencing success in every new role he took on. Daniel had an adaptable spirit that became the threshing floor where exponential growth took place. Daniel kept a firm grip on his identity while in exile, knowing who he belonged to and who was ordering his steps.
