“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.” (Psalms 37:23-24 from the KJV of the Holy Bible)
Have you ever used a compass? As a teenager I was in cadets and spent a few summers at summer training centers doing incredibly tedious tasks – one of which was orienteering. It was quite a few years ago, but I do remember having to put the compass on the map, turning it, following the directions, and most of the time, finding where I needed to go.
When pointed in the correct direction, it is easy to find our destination. If the compass is off by a few degrees but we don’t have a long way to go, we will probably be able to find what it is that we are looking for. If a compass is off by only a few degrees for a long period of time, it would be very easy to get lost.
Staying on the right track is the only way that we can properly follow His plan for our lives. Straying even a little bit for any period of time can have serious consequences. Of course we will make mistakes, but if we are truly walking with Him, He will be quick to correct the course on which we travel.
Prayer: Lord, help us to follow that path that you have designed for us today. Help us make decisions that align with Your word. In Jesus name, amen.
