I have a recurring dream. I am in a familiar house, not my current home, but I feel I belong there. Walking through the hallways, I notice a few rooms I don’t remember seeing before. I am so excited; I can really use the extra space! Looking around, I notice that these rooms are rather dirty and the décor is outdated. I instantly have all these ideas and plans to renovate and decorate these newfound treasures. How did I not know these rooms were in my house all this time?

Recently, I had a similar dream. Again, I am in a familiar-feeling place but not my current home. As I look around and take it all in, right past the kitchen is a sun-filled room; it appears to be a sunroom. In front of the windows are a couple of shelves with eight to ten houseplants. I am aware that I have not been taking care of these plants because I had forgotten about them. But they are growing and looking good, considering their neglected state. There are a couple with a few yellow leaves, and I think, Oh, now that I know they’re there, I can take care of them and make them look beautiful. I am so happy to have found them in this gorgeous, sun-filled room.

When I awaken from these dreams, I wonder what the meaning could be. I posted these dreams a few months ago on Facebook and received all kinds of interpretations and suggestions. (I don’t recommend this!)  If these dreams are from God, He will make the interpretation clear to me in His time. In the Bible, God often spoke through dreams and visions. Sometimes these were symbolic, and at other times God gave detailed instructions for a specific place and time.

In Joel chapter 2 and Acts chapter 2, the Bible mentions dreams and visions:

“‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.”

What a beautiful promise! Since I am dreaming dreams, I must be in the “old” category!

But I’m not even bothered by that. Being able to be a part of these last days and see Jesus pouring out His Spirit is an exciting time to be living. Have you been filled with His Spirit? It is not a dream; it is happening worldwide today. The promise is for you!

Acts 2:38-39,

Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
