She goes to inspect a field and buys it; with her earnings she plants a vineyard. She is energetic and strong, a hard worker. She makes sure her dealings are profitable; her lamp burns late into the night. Her hands are busy spinning thread, her fingers twisting fibre.” Prov. 31:16-19 NLT

There is a principle that runs through the Bible of putting God first in everything we do and knowing that He will then bless us. Jacob made a vow to God that if the Lord would be with him and bring him back to his father’s house, he would serve God and give a tenth of all his income to the Lord. Because of his faithfulness in this respect, God blessed him abundantly.

Apparently, this woman in our study has followed this principle. As she has given her first fruits to the Lord, He has blessed her and given her guidance in her use of the balance of her substance.
She uses her assets wisely, investing her money in property and then using that property to generate an income. She considers carefully and spends time planning what she will invest in. She is a hard worker and keeps busy.

Everything we have is from the Lord. When we give back to the Lord a tenth of our income and let Him direct us in the use of the rest, we will find that it goes a lot further than we dreamed. We cannot out give the Lord. The blessings we receive are not always material things, there are blessings of peace in knowing we are obeying the Lord completely.

As a mother, you may not be investing in fields and vineyards, but the investment in the lives of your children will pay big dividends. It costs a lot to raise a child today, and ensure that they get a good education, but it will pay off in the long run. It is rewarding when we see them reach their potential and become successful in life. You may experience some late nights making sure that they have the clothes and things they need. Most importantly, you are there to guide them in their spiritual lives, making sure that they have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ that will keep them from the lure of the world.

Whatever your lot in life, if you will be faithful to the Lord and obey Him, you can be as blessed as this lady in Proverbs.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for your promise to bless us, if we honour you and obey your Word. Thank you for the privilege of being your child.
