“O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.” Psalm 139:1-3

Our minds often wander down strange paths, its seems our thoughts jump from one thing to another, especially when we are trying to get to sleep at night. Or when we are trying to pray and just can’t seem to keep our mind on the Lord. Often, we wonder where these thoughts come from. If our friends or family could read our minds, they would not understand at all.

The Psalmist tells us that God not only knows our thoughts, but he understands them as well. Even though we may find them confusing, He knows everything about our lives and why our minds go in the direction they do. As we cry out to Him to search our hearts, and reveal what is causing us turmoil and confusion, He is always there to show us the answers and lead us in the way He desires us to go. We do not know our own hearts, but the Lord knows, and, in His wisdom, He guides our thoughts back to Him, He is merciful and longsuffering towards us and we can know for sure that He is always there for us. All we have to do is whisper His Name, Jesus.

Prayer: Lord Jesus I am so thankful that you know the thoughts and intents of our heart, and that you are always there to guide and direct us.
