Romans 2:7

He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers.

I have two young children, and as a parent, I carry a huge responsibility and burden for raising them in this day and age. I’m sure that those of you reading this devotional also carry such burdens.

It seems like anything moral is being torn apart and reduced to ashes by people who want to live their own life, their way. People are fueled by hate and anger. Sin is running rampant. It is difficult to not allow ourselves to become distracted by the noise of this generation, but it can be discouraging at times to see what has become of this society.

That being said, I am so thankful for the hope of eternity. I cannot imagine living life thinking that this is all there is. Our world may be crumbling around us, but we have a future with our Mighty King. Imagine a place with no sorrow? No sin, no disaster, no sickness.

When I think of heaven I am reminded of the song that goes “What a day that will be, when my Jesus I shall see. When I look upon His face, the One who saved me by His grace. When He takes me by the hand, and leads me to that promise land. What a day, what a glorious day that shall be.”

We can have hope today, knowing that there is so much more to life than this. We are just passing through, holding onto the promise of heaven.
