“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1
The “secret place” is more than a hidden location—it is a place of intimacy, trust, and closeness with God. A secret is not shared with everyone; it is reserved for those who are trusted and valued. In the same way, God invites us into a personal relationship with Him where we can be completely honest, vulnerable, and secure in His presence.
When someone entrusts you with a secret, they are opening a part of their heart that is not meant for public display. They are sharing their fears, dreams, struggles, and deepest thoughts because they believe you will handle them with care. Likewise, when we come before God in the secret place, we can lay down every burden, every fear, and every hidden pain without fear of rejection or condemnation.
The secret place is also a place of safety. It is where distractions grow quiet and the noise of the world fades away. In that place, God comforts, strengthens, corrects, and renews us. It is not built on ritual or routine alone, but on relationship. The more time we spend with Him, the deeper our trust grows, and the more we learn to recognize His voice.
To dwell in the secret place means to remain there—to continually seek God’s presence, not only in moments of trouble, but as a daily posture of the heart. It is there, under the shadow of the Almighty, that we discover true peace, protection, and spiritual rest
I desire to draw closer to God than ever before. His word promises that if I draw close to Him that He will draw close to me.
There are moments in life when the weight of responsibilities, disappointments, grief, and spiritual battles can leave us feeling exhausted and empty. Weariness does not always come from physical labor; sometimes it comes from carrying silent burdens, fighting private battles, or enduring seasons of uncertainty. Hurt can settle deep within the heart through rejection, loss, betrayal, fear, or unanswered prayers. Yet even in those moments, God does not ask us to hide our pain from Him. He invites us to bring every burden, every question, and every broken piece of our lives into His presence.
The beauty of the secret place is that it is not reserved for the perfect or the strong—it is open to the weary, the wounded, and the searching soul. In God’s presence, we find peace that calms anxiety, strength that renews us when we feel weak, and joy that is not dependent on circumstances. The secret place becomes a refuge where the noise of the world fades and the voice of God becomes clearer.
No matter what you are facing, there is always a place in God’s presence where you can rest your soul.
Prayer: Lord, help me abide in your presence. Take me to the secret place. I want to go higher, draw closer, and seek the depths of your spirit. I am ready to seek you so I can find you.
