“Take your son, your only son-yes, Isaac, whom you love so much-and go to the land of Moriah. Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you” (Genesis 22:2 from the New Living Translation)
Abraham and Sarah were desperate for a son of their own. I do not have children but I know that having a child is one of the most precious gifts that God can give us. Imagine the faith it took Abraham to bring his long awaited son, Isaac, to the top of that mountain? I cannot even fathom what went through his mind that day. To have the obedience that Abraham had is something that I strive for. I want to have the willingness to do anything He asks of me – no matter the sacrifice.
Prayer: Lord, everything that I have is Yours. You are, above all, the most important person in my life and I want nothing more than to commit all I have to you. I am willing to be used of you in any way that you desire. I pray these things in Your name, Amen!
