lamp
“They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings” (Exodus 10:23 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible).

I heard a song entitled, “Light doesn’t make a sound,” by Woody Wright this weekend on the radio. The thought has stayed with me for several days now. The song was over quickly and I only heard the end of it.

Reading this verse reminded me that one of the plagues imposed on Egypt was darkness. Our world is plagued with darkness also. There is and should be a distinct difference between homes where God is honored and homes where individuals do not serve God.

My home is filled with lights and lamps. There only purpose is to shine light in a particular room. When the switch is turned on they produce light. The bulbs often have to be replaced for without bulbs the lamp is just a show piece.

I wonder if we as the children of God have forgotten our purpose? We were made to shine.

Prayer: Jesus, would You help me to keep my lamp burning bright with Your Spirit. Words are unnecessary when You dwell in me. I want to shine until You come back and take us out of this world! In Jesus’ Name. Amen!
