“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8
We live in a world that is constantly changing. Over the last few months, we have had to change the way we do so many things. What we once took for granted is now no longer possible. We cannot attend church the way we used to. We cannot visit with friends and family without following a lot of rules.
BUT there is one thing that has not changed, Jesus is still the same. We can rest assured upon His promise that He will never leave us nor forsake us, and that truth keeps us strong no matter what may change around us. His Word is still true and will endure until the end of time.
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. Rev. 1:8
- Yesterday – The Scriptures tell us that He was there for us before we were even born, that He has a plan and a purpose for our lives. We can look back and see His Hand guiding us, answering our prayers, keeping us safe, and being there for us in every circumstance. In times of sorrow He was there to comfort. When we or someone in our family faced medical problems, He was there to heal. When the road seemed hard and we were met by trials, He was there to meet every need.
- Today – We are so blessed to rise in the morning, whisper His Name in prayer and commit the day into His care. He will guide and direct each step we take. He knows exactly what we will face today, and He has already planned our path. His presence goes before us, smoothing the way. Nothing can come against us without passing through Him first.
- Forever – Since He knows everything about us from beginning to end, we can safely trust that when our time on earth is over, He will be there to usher us into eternity to be forever with Him. We do not fear death, because we know the One who has given us eternal life. For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death. Psalm 48:14.
So, let the world change around us. We need not fear, we serve the One who never changes. If we keep our hand in His hand, we can walk each day in His presence and know that He is always there with us.
Prayer: Jesus, thank you for all the blessings of yesterday, for your guidance today, and for the hope of the future which you have given us. May we always let you lead and guide us.
