When God Speaks Has God ever spoken to you? Maybe it wasn’t an audible voice, but have you had a moment when you have received a divine word, direction, or supernatural peace from our Sovereign Lord? Every time God has spoken to me, I am left in awe of His love and constant faithfulness. A few years ago I was at the most broken place in my life. I would cry out to God, “Lord, I know that you put broken pieces together, but I feel like the pieces of my life have been ground into powder. Can you put…
Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men. 2 Corinthians 3:2 I did not think that sharing my life through writing would be so scary. Who knew that writing devotions would make my heart race? After all, they are only words on a page,…
“And have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.” (Colossians 3:10) The little voice from the back seat suddenly asked, “Is your name written in the book?” Our excursions together often proved interesting, and apparently this would be another of…

“We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” Proverbs 16:4 I’m not the type of person who likes to have plans set in stone, nor am I completely a free spirit. I’m in the middle of “let me know where to be and when, and let’s take it as it comes.” It’s an entirely different story when it comes to God’s will for my life, though. I tend to panic when I can’t see what He is doing, and I often struggle to give Him total control. The above verse lets me know that try as I…
Then he sent them out to tell everyone about the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. “Take nothing for your journey,” he instructed them. “Don’t take a walking stick, a traveler’s bag, food, money, or even a change of clothes.” (Luke 9:2-3, NLT) I love to travel, but I’ve finally figured out that it’s easier when I pack light. I am not quite to the point where I can exist for a week or two with one small carry-on bag, but at least I no longer cram so much into my luggage that it won’t zip closed. I…
“Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled. (Mark 5:19-20, ESV). These are the words Jesus spoke to the man we recognize by the name Legion. The Lord had delivered him from demons, setting him free from a life of bondage and torment. Later, the man followed Jesus back to the ship and asked if he could stay with Him. Instead of granting…
“Good understanding giveth favour: But the way of transgressors is hard.” (Proverbs 13:15, KJV) This verse has had a strong impact on me throughout my life, having been raised in church. I never wanted to find myself away from God as an unfaithful one: a transgressor. Twenty-three years ago, our son, a licensed minister, decided he was done with how he was raised. Our world and family were suddenly and drastically changed, but not for the better. God’s mighty hand is always at work. We see it today, though we could not see it then. God Himself faithfully ministered to…
