Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, you want to be with me because I fed you, not because you understood the miraculous signs. But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval.” (John 6:26-27, NLT) Multitudes followed Jesus wherever He went. Curiosity seekers, children, the blind, the desperate, sincere seekers, skeptics, and religious. Of the thousands who gathered to hear Him, no doubt some of each were in the crowd. I’d like…
1 Kings 3:9 MSG “Here’s what I want: Give me a God-listening heart so I can lead your people well, discerning the difference between good and evil. For who on their own is capable of leading your glorious people?” Right before Solomon made this request, God appeared to him in…
“I was there when he set the limits of the seas, so they would not spread beyond their boundaries. And when he marked off the earth’s foundations,” Proverbs 8:29 Humans struggle with being told what to do. Everyone wants to be the Captain, to be in charge, to take…

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2 (KJV) On a cold winter day I pulled into a snow packed Walmart parking lot. I drove the aisles looking for the closest parking spot. I checked the cars around me as I pulled into a spot and went inside. After finishing my trip, I headed back out into the cold. When I found my car I laughed at how horribly I had parked. I could now…
“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10) It was a busy Saturday filled with household chores and lots of errands. Amidst all of our running from place to place, we stopped in a dryer repair shop. My dryer had been broken for about a month. My wonderful husband had bought a part and followed a DIY YouTube tutorial, but after replacing the part we thought it needed, it was still out of commission. Just imagine the piles of laundry that could accumulated in a month and multiply by 10! This…
Jesus would have been a great Bible quizzer. He often repeated the words of Scripture. In fact, three of the gospel writers recorded Jesus referencing the same Old Testament passage, “Mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.” In the past, I’ve read and even spoken these words of Isaiah without realizing the significance of their original context. Prior to their declaration, the Lord disclosed His intention to do something that had previously been forbidden. He would allow eunuchs (“blemished” people) and strangers (non-Jews) the opportunity to worship among His people. With beautiful language the prophet…
“But you, the Lord God, are kind and merciful. You don’t easily get angry, and your love can always be trusted.” Psalms 86:15 CEV There are many times when those around us, hurt us. Moments of betrayal, abandonment and unkind words that can break our hearts, and cause us to have some trust issues. I’ve been hurt before, and I’m sure it will happen again. A reminder I can carry with me in those moments is the above scripture. God’s love can be trusted. He is for you, and never against you. If it appears as though something is being…
