“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48) Perfection. When I say the word, another quickly comes to mind: impossible. While I may be blind to some of my faults, I recognize enough of my shortcomings to realize that I am a long way from achieving perfection. That realization causes me to wonder if God is commanding me to be something that may be impossible to achieve. THE KEY TO PERFECTION Perfection does not come from our own efforts. It is not within our power to attain this alone. Job said, “If…
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 The summer after my first year of Bible College I found myself on a plane to Spanish Town, Jamaica to minister with a group of friends. There was one problem, I felt worthless and broken. I felt lost and questioned my purpose. I arrived at the Buffalo, New York airport at 4 am. I was excited, yet hesitant, because…
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:11-13 God told Jeremiah to send a letter to the people who had been taken to Babylon, instructing them as to how they should conduct their lives while they were there. He told them to build houses…
“Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” 1 Corinthians 5:8 The seven feasts can be organized into three sections of time. At the beginning of the year, it was the Feast of Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and the Feast of First Fruits. The Feast of Unleavened Bread immediately follows the Passover and lasts seven days. In Exodus 12, God commands His people to remove all the leaven from their homes and eat only unleavened bread, or bread made…

And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no frequent vision.” 1 Samuel 3:1 ESV There are a few interesting facts about Samuel. First, he was a miracle baby. His mother, Hannah, was barren and wanted desperately to have children of her own. God heard all of her fervent prayers, and along came Samuel. She immediately dedicated him back to the Lord once he was weaned, and he began serving the chief priest in the tabernacle. During those days, the word of the Lord…
